Kiko, barely a man, stood defiant against the gale, his worn cloak billowing behind him. His eyes, the color of storm clouds, narrowed against the swirling dust. This was it: the proving ground, the place where his dragon bond would be forged...or broken.

Suddenly, the ground trembled. A deafening roar ripped through the air. The Dragon Stone pulsed violently, the emerald cracks blazing with an unearthly light.

"'The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,' Hana. Confucius said that, and I'm taking mine." He had to face the dragon. He had no choice.

He stepped forward, into the heart of the storm. The air crackled with energy, and the scent of ozone filled his nostrils.

Before him, the Dragon emerged from the swirling dust, a colossal silhouette against the stormy sky. Its eyes burned like molten gold, fixing on Kiko with ancient intelligence.

"Mortal," the Dragon's voice boomed, shaking the very ground beneath Kiko's feet. "You seek the Dragon's Oath? What makes you worthy?" Kiko stood his ground…

"I seek to protect my people," he declared, his voice trembling but firm. "To heal the land poisoned by the blight."

The Dragon scoffed, a plume of smoke erupting from its nostrils. "Protect? Heal? You are but a child! You possess no power!

"Dragon," Kiko said, his voice now steady. "I do not seek to control you. I seek your wisdom. The blight...it is not a natural disease. It is a corruption, a wound upon the land. What caused it?" The Dragon paused, its golden eyes narrowing.
