The colossal city of Zenith, powered by pulsating crystal veins, hummed with a nervous energy. Whispers of impending doom filled the narrow alleyways. "He's coming," a hooded figure hissed to another, their faces masked in shadow, "The Annihilator tears through dimensions. Nothing stops him."

Ten-year-old Kael, perched atop a skyscraper, listened to the city's whispers with his extraordinary hearing. Something's wrong... terribly wrong, he thought, his heart pounding in his chest. His best friend, the ever-skeptical Riko, joined him, stuffing his face with a synth-burger. "You hear that doomsday garbage again? Relax, Kael. Worrying won't stop any space villains."

"But what if it's real this time, Riko? What if people get hurt?" Kael asked, his voice laced with concern. "Then we'll deal with it, like always," Riko replied, tossing the burger wrapper into a nearby energy recycling bin. Kael clenched his fists. "No. This time, I won't just stand by. As Martin Luther King Jr. said, 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.' I have to do something!"

Suddenly, the ground trembled, and a tear in reality shimmered into existence above the city. "What in the name of...?!" Riko yelled, dropping his half-eaten synth-burger. From the rift, a colossal, obsidian figure emerged, wreathed in dark energy. The Annihilator had arrived.

Dark energy tendrils lashed out, vaporizing buildings and scattering terrified citizens. "He's too strong! We can't fight that!" Riko screamed, pulling Kael back from the edge. Kael, however, felt a surge of energy coursing through him, his super hearing amplifying the city's cries for help. He couldn't ignore it.

"I have to try, Riko!" Kael exclaimed, tearing away. "I can amplify my hearing, create a sonic shield. Maybe, just maybe, I can disrupt his energy flow!" The Annihilator turned his crimson gaze towards them. "Insignificant insects! You dare defy me? Your world will crumble!" His voice echoed with the force of a collapsing star.

Kael focused, channeling the city's energy, and unleashed a concentrated sonic blast. The Annihilator staggered back, momentarily disrupted. "Now! We need to get to the Zenith Core! It's the only thing that can weaken him permanently!" Kael yelled, grabbing Riko's hand and leaping off the skyscraper.

They navigated the collapsing city, dodging debris and leaping across chasms, their path lit by the Zenith Core's pulsating glow. But the Annihilator was regaining his strength. "He's too fast! We'll never make it!" Riko cried, stumbling. Kael suddenly remembered something he'd read in a discarded physics textbook: amplified sonic vibrations could destabilize crystal structures.
Page 9

"Riko! Remember that old physics text? Crystal resonance! I can use my sonic powers to shatter the Zenith Core's supporting structures! It will create a feedback loop that disrupts the Annihilator's connection to this dimension!" Kael explained. He focused his energy, pinpointing the resonance frequency of the crystal supports. The Zenith Core began to tremble, a spiderweb of cracks spreading across its surface.

The Annihilator roared as his form flickered, his connection to their dimension severed. He dissolved into particles of dark energy, banished back to the void from whence he came. Kael collapsed, exhausted, but a triumphant grin spread across his face. "We did it, Riko! We saved Zenith!" He looked at Riko. "I guess... maybe worrying a little wasn't so bad after all."
