Jun gazed out the lighthouse window, the swirling painted sea a mesmerizing canvas. "Grandma Elodie, how did doctors know what was wrong with people before?" he asked, turning to the woman tending the lamp. Elodie smiled, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "That's a wonderful question, Jun! It wasn't always easy; sometimes, they had to guess.

Jun frowned, pulling out his worn leather notebook. "Pass me my Invention Encyclopedia, please?" Elodie chuckled, handing him the glowing book from a nearby shelf. He opened it, a swirl of light engulfing the room. "I wonder who invented the thingamajig they use now!" Jun said, excitement bubbling in his voice.

Everything began to spin, the lighthouse fading into a cobbled street. Gone were the blues and purples of the painted sea, replaced by the browns and grays of a bustling 19th-century Parisian square. He clutched his notebook tight. "Where are we?" he whispered, staring wide-eyed at the horse-drawn carriages and people in strange clothes.

A woman cried out, her voice filled with panic. "Doctor! Please, come quickly! My child is ill!" A man in a dark coat rushed past Jun, disappearing into a nearby building. Jun looked around, confused. "Elodie, where did you go? What's happening?"

Suddenly, the Encyclopedia glowed, an image forming on its pages. It showed a doctor, bent low, listening to a child's chest. Underneath, a caption: 'René Laennec, 1816'. "That must be it!" Jun exclaimed, running towards the building where the doctor had disappeared.

Inside, a harried man with kind eyes wiped his brow. "I can't hear her heart properly!" the doctor exclaimed, frustrated, pacing the room. A young girl lay pale in bed. "I remember what Leonardo da Vinci said: 'Where there is shouting, there is no true knowledge,'" Jun blurted, reciting the words he'd read. "Maybe there's a way to listen more closely?"

Laennec stopped, considering Jun's words. His gaze fell upon a rolled-up stack of papers on the table. "Hmm..." he muttered. "What if I..." He grabbed the papers and fashioned them into a makeshift tube, placing one end to the girl's chest and the other to his ear.

"I can hear it!" Laennec exclaimed, his eyes widening in amazement. "I can hear her heart so clearly! It's like... like a miracle!" Jun grinned. "That's amazing, Doctor Laennec! Now you can help even more people!"

Suddenly, a familiar swirl of light surrounded Jun. The Parisian room dissolved, replaced by the comforting glow of the lighthouse. "It worked!" he cried, clutching his notebook. "He invented a way to hear people's hearts better!"

Jun ran to Elodie, who smiled knowingly. "He called it a 'stethoscope,' Jun. Today, the medical devices industry generates over 500 billion in revenue annually because of such inventions that connect people."" He grinned, grabbing Malik's hand to show him the notebook when he returned. "Grandma Elodie, now I know how doctors listen to our hearts!"
