"She is beloved, kind, a true princess... and you, my dear, are withering away!" A gnarled, green hand reached from the looking glass and offered a potion. The next morning, a monstrous serpent, a Laidly Worm, occupied Margaret's bed. Its scales shimmered sickly green in the morning light, its eyes glowed with malevolent intelligence. It slithered out of the treehouse and down towards the rainbow bridges. A wave of fear rippled through Spindleston Heugh. The creature demanded food, treasure, and, worst of all, the lives of the village children.

Rowan faced the Laidly Worm. He offered it gold, jewels, fine silks—anything to appease it. But the Worm only hissed, its eyes fixed on the children huddled in the highest treehouses. \"Only the sacrifice of the innocent will satisfy my hunger!\" Rowan knew he couldn't give in. He raised his sword, his heart heavy. This was not the heroic battle he imagined, but a desperate fight for survival.

Elara, watching from a distance, remembered an old ballad: 'Only a kiss of purest love can break the curse.' She saw a discarded mirror fragment glinting in the sunlight. An idea sparked. "Rowan, the mirror!" she shouted. "Reflect the Worm's own image!"
