In the harbor town of Starlight, where ships sailed on rivers of starlight, lived a Prince, a Queen, and a maiden named Elara. The Prince sought a true princess, the Queen demanded proof, and Elara... Elara simply longed for rest. But beneath layers of silk and dreams lay a secret test, a trial of comfort, a reckoning of royal blood.

The rain poured as Elara stumbled through the gates of Starlight. "Shelter," she breathed, more to herself than the guards. "I've traveled far, seeking refuge." She claimed to be a princess, lost on her way to meet her betrothed.

"A princess?" the Queen scoffed, eyeing Elara's tattered clothes. "Anyone can claim royalty. True nobility lies not in title, but in... resilience." She continued, "As Leonardo da Vinci said, 'I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply.' We shall see if you truly possess the qualities of a princess, or if you simply know how to make the claim."

That night, a bed was prepared for Elara. "The finest silks, the softest down," a servant announced. "Fit for a princess." But beneath the mountain of mattresses, the Queen had placed a single, dried pea.

Elara tossed and turned. "This bed... it feels like stones," she mumbled, shifting. The silk sheets scratched, the down pillows seemed lumpy and hard. "I can't rest!" she said to the empty room, standing. The forest outside of Starlight looked inviting.

Unable to bear the discomfort, Elara snuck from the castle and found a hidden path leading into the dark forest that bordered Starlight. "Maybe sleep will be easier there," she whispered to herself. But the woods, a place of secrets and shadows, was not known for its gentle rest.

Back in the castle, the Queen watched Elara's empty bed through a charmed mirror. "So, she could not endure a small discomfort," she murmured. The mirror reflected not Elara, but the forest, twisting and turning.

Elara didn't find easy sleep in the forest. Thorns pricked, branches snapped, and the wind howled. But something else occurred. She had a vision. A dream where the very pea she ran from sprouted a huge tree, the tree offered her nothing. She bolted awake, deciding "running away won't solve anything". With newfound strength, Elara returned to the Queen.

"I could not sleep," Elara admitted to the Queen the next morning. "The bed was... unsettling. But I will not run again. I am ready for what you require." The Queen's hard face softened.

\"True royalty isn't about feeling no discomfort,\" the Queen announced, smiling kindly. \"It's about facing it with grace and honesty. Elara, you have proven yourself a true princess.
