The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Coming to Wonder Tales on 27 November 2026.
A Kansas cyclone lifts Dorothy's little farmhouse into the sky with her and her dog Toto inside, and sets it down in the strange bright country of Oz, where it comes to rest upon the Wicked Witch of the East. The Good Witch of the North gives Dorothy the dead witch's Silver Shoes and a kiss upon the forehead, and sends her along the road of yellow brick to ask the great Wizard of Oz for a way home. On the road she gathers a Scarecrow who believes he has no brains, a Tin Woodman who believes he has no heart, and a Cowardly Lion who believes he has no courage, and together they cross field and forest and river to the Emerald City. The Wizard, who appears to each of them as something different and terrible, will grant nothing until the Wicked Witch of the West is dealt with. The witch sends wolves, crows, bees and at last her Winged Monkeys, who carry the travellers to her yellow castle, where Dorothy is kept as a drudge until, in a flash of temper, she flings a bucket of water over the witch and the witch melts away to nothing. The freed friends return in triumph, and discover the Wizard to be an ordinary little man behind a curtain, who gives the Scarecrow, the Woodman and the Lion the brains, heart and courage they had shown all along. Only Dorothy is left unhomed, until Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, tells her gently that the Silver Shoes on her feet could have carried her over the desert on the very first day — and three steps later Dorothy is rolling in the Kansas grass, in Aunt Em's arms, with Toto barking at her heels.
