Idris sat on a mossy rock, watching the underground river flow through the cavern. Gemstones glittered on the walls, casting a rainbow of light. "This cave is amazing, Grandma Katya!" he exclaimed. "But how do they hold up the carnival tents during the meteor shower? Everything's so...soft."

Katya chuckled, ruffling Idris's golden-brown hair. "That's a very good question! They use a special kind of building material—reinforced concrete." Idris's eyes widened. "Reinforced concrete? What's that?" Katya smiled. "Well, come on then. Let's see if the Encyclopedia knows more!"

Back in Idris's room, the Encyclopedia on the shelf began to glow. He opened its worn leather cover. The room swirled with light. "Whoa! Where are we going this time?" Idris grabbed his notebook, ready for another adventure. Katya held his hand, a grin on her face.

They landed in a bustling French town. "This is... Paris?" Idris asked, looking around at the horse-drawn carriages and cobblestone streets. Katya nodded. "It is! And it's 1849. Look, Idris, over there. That man is François Coignet." Coignet was struggling to mix cement, it formed a clumpy and uneven mass.

"Monsieur Coignet!" Katya called out. "What are you building?" Coignet wiped his brow. "I am trying to build a new house," he explained, frustrated. "But this cement is terrible! It cracks, it crumbles. As Leonardo da Vinci said, 'I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply.' I need to apply my knowledge to make this house strong!"

"He's trying to build with concrete," Katya explained to Idris. "But concrete alone is weak. It needs something to hold it together, like..." "Like bones in our bodies!" Idris exclaimed, remembering his science lessons. "Exactly!" Katya replied. "But what could he use as bones?"

"Steel!" a voice shouted. It was Joseph Monier, a gardener. "I use wire mesh to reinforce my flowerpots! It makes them so much stronger!" Monier was a man in his 20's. Idris gasped. "Could that work for concrete, too?" he asked Katya. "Let's find out!"

Monier showed Coignet how to embed the wire mesh within the concrete. It took many attempts, but it worked, after using a complex combination of different wires. The concrete was stronger, more durable. "Magnifique!" Coignet exclaimed. "This reinforced concrete will revolutionize building!" In 1853, Coignet built the first reinforced concrete building.

Back in Idris's room, the Encyclopedia closed with a soft thump. "Wow! Reinforced concrete changed everything!" Idris said, grabbing his notebook. "Now we can build bridges, skyscrapers, all sorts of things!" He thought of the carnival tents. "And the meteor shower carnival!" Katya smiled.

Idris ran to Rohan. "Did you know that reinforced concrete makes almost everything possible?" he asked excitedly. "It's been used to build structures all over the world. Did you know that in 2022, the global reinforced concrete market was valued at around 260 billion USD?" Rohan's eyes widened. "That's incredible!" Katya smiled. "To be continued..."
