They walked deeper, passing dormant machines humming with a latent energy. "What do you think they used all this for?" Devi asked, pointing to a complex system of gears and wires. Clara consulted her notes. "The village legends say it was for something revolutionary, something that would change how people move around," Clara answered, pausing when she noticed a glint of metal in the corner.

Clara brushed away dust to reveal a faded blueprint. "An electric carriage?" she read aloud, tracing the lines with her finger.

He showed them a heavy lead-acid battery. "See? It's too bulky and inefficient. It would take forever to charge and wouldn't go very far."

"What about using multiple smaller batteries?" Devi suggested, remembering something she'd read. "If you connect them, could you increase the voltage and range?" Gaston's eyes widened. "An interesting idea! It would increase the cost, but it could be worth it... The first electric car was invented in 1830s! But it was too expensive to scale. Now I have to figure out a way to reduce the cost to scale the invention."

Gaston jumped into the driver's seat. The motor whirred to life, and the carriage lurched forward. "It works!" he cried, beaming with joy.

It's still the 21st century, so we can continue to work on Gaston's invention!"
